Dr. E. Dale Abel elected to National Academy of Medicine

Jamaican-born ​Dr. E. Dale Abel, the John B. Stokes III professor in diabetes research, professor of internal medicine and biochemistry, director of the Division of Endocrinology &Metabolism, and director of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Diabetes Research Center at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine, has been elected to the National Academy of Medicine (NAM), effective Oct. 19, 2015. 

Dr. Abel, a world-renowned leader in diabetes research and a national leader and mentor in the endocrine and diabetes community, has been a faculty member of the UI and Carver College of Medicine since 2013. 

The NAM elects no more than 70 national and 10 international members annually; membership reflects the height of professional achievement and commitment to service.
